Basic Concept

  • Schemes to be implemented include job oriented  professional courses in Paramedical field and Charted Accounting.
  • The professional courses will be conducted in the school premises and will seamlessly mesh with the concept of job-based higher learning, and will be “A College in the School”
  • These courses will be subsidized by contributions from ‘AddValueToLife.org’ to drive initiatives in developing countries such as India through projects and initiatives like ‘Brthya’

  • Such Trusts (Brthya) are also responsible for setting aside growth funds for scholarships awarded on a selective basis (on measurable norms of merit, social strata, affordability to pursue education etc. )
  • Brthya would execute such development projects by forming groups of individuals, social/welfare  workers, and networking with qualified/accredited social institutions (Indian Red  Cross Society, Tamil Nadu Branch, C3 Academy ,  Welfare organizations etc.), into an ‘eco-system’ (Read more on Brthya)

  • These courses are expected to create and enhance interest in ‘Science and Commerce’ among the middle and high school students, since there is a higher degree of assurance of jobs after the course

Schemes initiated by Brthya
     1.Nursing Career
  a. Initiated Nursing courses in selected schools in Chennai, India, for  Twelfth grade students (Senior High School ) who are economically too weak to go to colleges.

i. This is a  two-year course
ii. Currently the organization has set up a joint operation with a Institute of Paramedical Sciences
iii. There is an ongoing effort to obtain accreditation and courseware from nursing educational institutions in the United States
iv. Hospital training is part of the curriculum
v. The Certificates of diploma  are issued by the Paramedical Institute and facilitate equal opportunities to students..
vi. Faculties are arranged by Brthya
vii. The curriculum will include

                2. Home Nursing concepts
                3. English Proficiency ,Computer basics
                4. Computer based training courseware for self-learning.

b. It will be the endeavor of Brthya and its affiliated sponsors/members of the eco-system to ensure that almost  all students passing out of the course will be offered
home nursing jobs, which fulfill the fundamental goal of providing health care at affordable costs and promote community based healthcare (analogous to the hospice concept)

   2. Infrastructure required per school which would be participating
as a member of the eco-system is as follows:

       i. Class Room for about 50 students , to be provided by the school
ii. About 25 Personal Computers  for
         a. Computer based Courseware in nursing
         b. Additional knowledgebase from various sources to augment the lessons, including
information from the internet, standard CBTs on nursing and
healthcare which will be procured from the market
          c. Biology courseware which would form mainstream
syllabus for students in the eleventh and twelfth
grade  (junior and  senior years of high school)
          d. Life Sciences Courseware and Knowledgebase
          e. Broadband connectivity (DSL connectivity)
iii. An LCD Projector and a screen
iv. Once the program is established in one school, then it
becomes scalable and replicable in other schools which
have students from economically weaker sections of the society who may not be able to consider regular graduation program . These students would have equal  career potential and contribute to the society

This program is  a forerunner to what can be termed as a community school with a difference (CSWD) or "College within schools" .
